Abstract

The aim of present research was to verify the occurrence of albinism character and to estimate the coefficient of endogamy of a juçara palm (Euterpe edulis Mart.) population. On this context, were evaluated fifteen free pollination progenies. The progeny test showed that 13.3% of the seed trees presented albino seedlings and therefore the heterozygous for the characteristic. Based on the ratio between albino and normal seedlings, was estematel that the average tax of self-fertilization was 10.0%. The average value of the endogamy coefficient was 0.05. These values are considered the above of the limits for an alogamous species.
