Abstract

This research was carried out to evaluate the Eucalyptus pellita bark utilization by parcial substitution of Phenol-Formaldehyde resin for wood particleboards production. Particleboards were manufactured from PF resin and with PF modified resin with 10 % and 20 % of tannin from eucalyptus bark. The amount of resin was 10 % and the particleboards were pressed at 170 °C during 6 min and 9 min. The properties of Modulus of rupture (MOR) and Modulus of elasticity (MOE) on static bending, internal bond and tickness swelling were evaluated according to ASTM D-1037. The results showed that the MOR and MOE of the particleboards did not change with tannin addition into PF resin, while the internal bond and the physical properties have been modified by tannin addition into the PF resin.
