Este trabalho consiste no levantamento e identificação das espécies ornamentais da família Rubiaceae do Campus da Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro, Seropédica. Foram feitas coletas semanais no período de novembro/ 2007 a setembro /2008, nas quais seis espécies foram identificadas pertencentes à subfamília Cinchonoideae. O gênero mais representado foi Ixora L. com três táxons, Mussaenda L., Genipa L. e Calycophyllum DC. com uma única espécie. São apresentadas neste trabalho chave para identificação das espécies, descrições, ilustrações, comentários sobre o material examinado, distribuição e dados sobre floração e frutificação de cada espécie.

This work consists on the survey and identification of the ornamental species of the Rubiaceae from Campus of the Universidade Federal Rural of Rio de Janeiro, Seropédica. Weekly collections during the period of November of 2007 until September of 2008 had been made, when six species were identified as the subfamily Cinchonoideae. The most representative genus was Ixora L., with three species and Mussaenda L., Genipa L. e Calycophyllum DC., were represented by only one species each. An identification key for the species, descriptions, illustrations, commentaries on the examined material, distribution and data on flowering and fruit of each species are presented.
